Apriva Announces Strategic Partnership With VISA

Program Promotes Cashless Transactions for Vending Machine Operators

SCOTTSDALE, AZ, January 14, 2010 — Apriva, the leading wireless transactions and information solutions provider, today announced that it is entering a strategic partnership with VISA to introduce cashless payment technologies to US-based vending machine owners and operators. Through this relationship, Apriva expects to integrate VISA payWave, VISA’s contactless payment feature, with Apriva’s fully secure wireless payment processing solution, giving vending machine owner/operators a turnkey approach to conduct cashless and contactless payment processing from vending machines.

“We are delighted  to join forces with VISA to actively assist vending machine operators that are looking to leverage the inherent financial and operational benefits  associated with cashless transaction solutions,” said Bill Clark, executive vice president, North America of Apriva. “VISA’s payWave solution is an innovative technology that is considered the standard for contactless payments. Our mutual belief is that the combination of VISA payWave with Apriva’s advanced wireless payment processing technology will result in compelling, reliable, secure and cost-effective solution that will enable vending machine operators to increase sales, reduce costs, and enhance customer service.”

As the leading provider of secure wireless payment technologies for financial services providers, including banks, merchant acquirers, credit card processors and independent sales organizations (ISOs), Apriva is able to bundle a comprehensive solution that incorporates hardware, software, carrier services and ongoing service and support. Through its AprivaTalk™ proprietary wireless technology, Apriva is able to process payments faster, more efficiently and more securely than competing technologies.

“VISA clearly sees contactless payments as a significant growth opportunity,” says Michael Kasavana, Ph.D., NAMA Professor in Hospitality Business at Michigan State University and a leading authority on the vending sector. “It makes total sense for VISA to work with a technology provider like Apriva, which has the expertise, services portfolio and pervasive sales channel to meet the needs of vending machine operators.”
