Apriva Receives US Patent for Wireless Encryption Technology

New Innovation Enables Secure Communications Across Roaming Networks

Scottsdale, AZ, February 26, 2014—Apriva, the leading provider of end-to-end wireless transactions, gateway services, and secure information solutions, announced it has been awarded US patent #8,627,061 for developing methods that support robust encryption technologies for government and commercial mobile devices in wireless networks.

In receiving the patent, it was noted that Apriva’s innovation provides methods to better support high security encryption options for mobile endpoints like specialized government devices, as well as iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. According to Randolph Best, Apriva’s chief technology officer for Apriva ISS, wireless devices that roam both domestically and internationally encounter situations where carriers change Internet Protocol (IP) addresses through ad hoc re-assignments and Network Address Translations (NAT). Since many endpoint encryption components operate best with fixed IP addresses, the dynamic IP environment found in today’s 3G and 4G wireless networks can cause certain encryption components to fail.

Apriva’s patented methods and encapsulation techniques enable more high assurance encryption options and, as a result, deliver higher reliability for continuous and secure operations across multiple commercial wireless carrier networks.

“We are very proud of our team of engineers and staff for not only receiving this patent, but for continuing to display the highest degree of creativity and diligence for solving complex technology problems,” explained Chris Spinella, the company’s chief executive officer. “Apriva has always placed significant resources to ensure that we continue to develop new and better technologies for protecting highly sensitive voice and data communications across wireless networks. This latest patent reinforces this ongoing commitment by providing a best-of-breed solution that enables both our government and enterprise customers to communicate in a complex wireless network ecosystem without compromising essential information.”

The market-leading provider of wireless payment gateway services in North America, Apriva offers a broad portfolio of secure mobile commerce solutions.
