Apriva Processes $2B in Wireless Transactions During Q3 2012

2012 YTD Figure Approaches $6 Billion

Scottsdale, AZ October 24, 2012—Apriva, the leading provider of end-to-end wireless transactions and secure information solutions, announced that its point-of-sale (POS) gateway processed transactions worth $2 billion in the third quarter of 2012.  Apriva reported that its gateway handled approximately $5.91 billion in transactions through the first three quarters of 2012, surpassing the figure of $5.14 billion that the company processed during the same period last year.

“We’re pleased that the strength Apriva demonstrated in the first half of 2012 is continuing through the balance of the year,” said Paul Coppinger, president of Apriva. “The POS business continues to perform well across all lines. The core gateway business remains very stable, and we are also experiencing solid growth in both our mobile payments and unattended payments activities. As we prepare to introduce new products and new partnerships later this year, we have every reason to remain optimistic about the performance of the company.”

According to Coppinger, Apriva is planning to release a number of new solutions that he feels will have a positive impact on the company.

“Apriva has made significant investments in technologies that we believe will be well received by both our distribution partners and merchants,” he said. “As the mobile commerce landscape continues to evolve, our focus is to ensure that Apriva is perfectly positioned to capitalize on these opportunities, and extend our growth well into 2013 and beyond.”

As David Fish, a senior analyst with market research firm Mercator Advisory Group, explains, Apriva is well positioned to capitalize on the continuing shift to mobile payments in the retail sector.

“Both retailers and merchant acquirers are gradually coming to the conclusion that accepting payment through mobile devices will become more than a necessity in the coming years,” he said. “Merchants seeking to enhance the customer experience have already tasted the potential that mobility can offer.  Apriva is already recognized as one of the foremost providers for processing mobile payments, both through its market size, and its portfolio of technologies and processing partners. As the shift to mobility continues, Apriva will have an opportunity to capitalize on this trend.”
