Apriva POS Universal Application To Debut at 2013 ETA Annual Meeting and Expo

Enables Merchant Service Providers To Provide Compliance and Feature Updates to Disparate Terminal Families; New Solution Is Quick, Efficient and Mitigates Merchant Disruption

Scottsdale, AZ April 22, 2013—Apriva, the leading provider of end-to-end wireless transactions, gateway services, and secure information solutions, announced that it will preview its much anticipated Apriva POS™ Universal Application, a revolutionary solution that enables merchant services providers to automatically deliver compliance and feature updates to their dial, IP and wireless point-of-sale (POS) terminals through a uniform interface and process. Apriva will showcase the solution at the upcoming 2013 ETA Annual Meeting and Expo, scheduled for April 30 through May 2 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. Apriva will be located at booth #716 throughout the exhibition.

Developed as a single application that simultaneously supports dial, IP and wireless point-of-sale (POS) terminals, the Apriva POS Universal Application offers payment processors and independent sales organizations (ISOs) a number of compelling technical and operational advantages. Among these include:

  • Common interface and functionality across terminal families and communications technologies
  • One set of technical support documents, reference guides and training manuals for all terminal families
  • Small push updates automatically delivered at settlement time
  • Merchants receive updates without taking terminals off-line, mitigating disruption to the business
  • Reduces update times from as much as 40 minutes for dial terminals, to less than five minutes

“For years, merchant services providers have had to wade through a cumbersome, expensive and highly disruptive process in order to update merchant terminals,” explained Robert Martin, Apriva’s senior vice president for attended merchant solutions. “The Apriva POS Universal Application radically changes this dynamic. Through this application, payment processors and ISOs can quickly deliver new features and compliance updates without disrupting their merchants’ business operations. In addition, the application enables providers to streamline their documentation and merchant support activities, resulting in lower operating costs and improved customer support. We are looking forward to unveiling the Apriva POS Universal Application at ETA, and demonstrating how this technology fundamentally transforms the way providers service their terminal-based merchants.”

As a software solution, the Apriva POS Universal Application doesn’t require any on-premise hardware or systems. The push download technology allows providers to deliver software updates automatically, without any disruption to merchant operations.

“The process of keeping merchant terminals compliant and up-to-date has long been a thorn in the side of most merchant services providers,” explained David Fish, senior analyst with Mercator Advisory Group, a market research firm located in suburban Boston. “Not only is it expensive, but the process is cumbersome for the provider, and painful for the merchant, who must often take the terminal offline in order to receive the software update. The Apriva POS Universal Application has the potential to be the game changer that processors and ISOs are looking for. It substantially simplifies and shortens a complex process, and its ability to support all types of endpoints, including legacy dial terminals, makes it even more compelling.”
