Apriva Extends Discounted Rate Program to Support Cashless Vending Operators

Substantially Lowered Costs for Select Credit, Debit and Pre-Paid Card Transactions Will Benefit Operators

Scottsdale, AZ February 8, 2012—Apriva, the leading provider of end-to-end wireless transactions and secure information solutions, announced that it is now offering a discounted rate program to merchant acquirers and ISOs for Apriva Vend customers who deploy cashless vending technology. The rates, which are comparable to those before the enactment of the Durbin Amendment, are available immediately and cover Visa-branded credit, debit and pre-payment cards.

“These discounted rates should be welcome news for the many vending operators who are using—or considering—our Apriva Vend service for conducting card-based transactions at vending machines,” said Rinaldo Spinella, executive vice president of Apriva. “Apriva has been a longtime proponent of encouraging operators to leverage cashless payments technology as a means to improve a number of core business processes. As a result of the lower rate program, we anticipate that a significant number of vending operators who rely on small-ticket purchases will elect to deploy card-accepting solutions and discover the tangible benefits associated with this technology.”

Apriva has continually lobbied for discounted rate programs for vending operators since it first entered the vending space. This latest initiative offers rates that are similar to those offered pre-Durbin. As a result, vending operators can expect to process the majority of cashless transactions much more cost-effectively, resulting in more deployments of cashless solutions and expanded choices for consumers.

An end-to-end cashless payments solution, Apriva Vend gives vending operators the ability to enhance customer satisfaction, improve operational efficiency, increase sales and expand profit margins. Apriva Vend’s comprehensive service incorporates system hardware and software, wireless connectivity, transaction & alarm reporting capabilities and integration with leading payment processors and financial institutions. Apriva Vend is delivered as a low-cost monthly service through merchant acquirers and ISOs.

“While Apriva Vend continues to gain traction in the marketplace, there are still some operators who see transaction costs as an obstacle for implementing these solutions,” explained Spinella. “We expect that the lower rate program should give operators a low-cost, low-risk incentive to integrate cashless into their operations and see first-hand how these offerings can improve their bottom line.”
