Apriva Completes EMV Certification of Verifone Terminals to First Data (Omaha) and TSYS Platforms

Latest EMV Certifications Brings Greater Security & Functionality to Merchants

Scottsdale, Ariz., April 20, 2017 — Apriva, a leading provider of omnichannel payment solutions and secure mobile communications, today announced the completion of EMV certifications for Verifone terminals connecting through the Apriva gateway to First Data’s Omaha platform (FDMS Omaha) and quick chip certification to TSYS Acquiring Solutions’ platform. These two new certifications build on Apriva’s expansive EMV efforts, offering more choices to their comprehensive payment solutions, and continuing to bring the latest in payments technologies to ISOs, resellers and merchants.

The full-featured certifications include the wireless Verifone VX680 and dial/IP Verifone VX520 models, and covers Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and U.S. Common Debit transactions. The VX680 is a portable solution that boasts a powerful processor and a large touchscreen display. The VX520 is a high performance countertop terminal featuring exceptional ease of use. Apriva’s latest certifications bring a wide range of payment options to merchants using these popular Verifone terminals.

The Quick Chip solution with TSYS allows for early removal of the chip card by the consumer from the terminal, while retaining the key security features of EMV processing between the card and terminal. With Quick Chip, the cardholder removes their card prior to the submission of the authorization request, rather than waiting for the authorization response and post-authorization processing to complete in the terminal. It improves the cardholder experience, speeds the checkout process and reduces instances of cardholders leaving their cards behind in the terminal.

“Obtaining EMV certifications on the Apriva Gateway is crucial in order to bring the latest payment acceptance technologies to our resellers’ merchants,” said Stacey Finley Tappin, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Apriva. “Delivering the EMV functionality of these Verifone devices is an essential step in our EMV migration process. We continue to work diligently to release all major terminal lines on our many processor connections in order to bring future-forward payments to over 1,100 Apriva channel partners.”

Verifone is a world leader in payments and commerce solutions, with approximately 30 million devices and terminals deployed worldwide, enabling electronic payment transactions and value-added services at the point of sale.
