Tokenization and Automated Alarm Detection and Notification Provided for Vending Operators
Scottsdale, AZ December 20, 2010—Apriva, the leading provider of end-to-end wireless transactions and secure information solutions, announced new features for Apriva Vend customers that will enable vending operators to strengthen security for sensitive credit card information, as well as monitor vending machine alerts and alarms online.

Tokenization, the process of replacing the card numbers with scrambled digits after the initial authorization, significantly reduces the risk of a user’s card number being stolen or misused. Apriva Vend’s support of tokenization will be available with newest firmware version in the MEI card acceptors, when installed as a part of the Apriva Vend solution.
With the certification and release of the new firmware Apriva Vend will make available support for automated transmission of system alerts and alarms for monitoring activity at the vending machine.
Proactive delivery of critical machine alerts will enable vending operators to respond and resolve problems quickly, thus avoiding loss of sales opportunities. Without automated alarm reporting, a problem could go undetected until the route driver arrives to refill the machine. Apriva automatically generates automated electronic messages that can be transmitted to the appropriate operations personnel. These messages allow the operator to dispatch service personnel that can address issues and get the machine back online as quickly as possible.
